Hydrophobic polymer powder (HRPP) is a special type of polymer additive. Unlike traditional RDP, hydrophobic RDP has water-repellent properties, enhancing the water resistance of the final product. It is particularly suitable for applications where humid environments are a concern.
Core Benefits of Hydrophobic Polymer Powder (HRPP)
● The primary advantage is its ability to drastically reduce liquid water uptake
● Similar to standard polymer powders, it forms a flexible polymer film within the mortar network during hydration. This enables it to form extremely strong adhesion to difficult-to-adhere or non-porous substrates such as ceramic tile surfaces, expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation boards, and dense concrete.
● It can reduce the elastic modulus of rigid cementitious matrices. This increased flexibility allows the mortar to absorb mechanical stress, vibration, and thermal expansion and contraction without cracking.
